Andrea Petkovic (Serbian: Андреа Петковић, Petković pronounced [pêtkoʋit͡ɕ]; born 9 September 1987) is a German tennis player. Born in Tuzla, SFR Yugoslavia, to Serbian father Zoran and Bosniak mother Amira, she moved to Germany at six months old. Petkovic turned professional in 2006 and reached her career-high singles ranking of world number 9 in October 2011 after reaching the quarter-finals of that year's Australian Open, French Open and US Open.

A stroll through her Instagram finds Petkovic posting "artistic" photos of herself and travels -- shots include David Bowie, Bob Dylan, German artist Christian Awe, Jackson Pollack, etc. You might say she's a "thinking woman's" athlete, a reader of Thomas Piketty and Ernest Hemingway. She's smart, beautiful and and an incredible tennis player. A sporting lass, through and through.
